Review of Pitch Black (2000) by Matthew A — 06 Nov 2011
Intriguing concept derailed by all-too familiar sci-fi/horror trappings that echo better movies such as Alien, Aliens, The Thing, and so forth. The movie does have the lovely Radha Mitchell and a nicely restrained Vin Diesel as Riddick.
The best performance goes to Rhiana Griffith, who shines in her tomboyish role. A definite cult item that is superior to the noisy and dumb sequel, The Chronicles of Riddick.
