Review of Pitch Black (2000) by Rudy C — 22 Oct 2009
Pitch Black is a great film. The main character, Riddick, is a wanted criminal, a killer. At first you think he is the main problem for the stranded crew, but after the 'creatures' kill a few people, you begin to see Riddick as a slightly-amoral-but-overall-helpful protagonist.
Slightly amoral. Actually, his character is kept in question until the very end, because while he didn't kill any innocent people, he made no efforts to save many of them. Even if you don't like Vin Diesel (which, on an unbiased critic, should have no standing on how awesome he was), you still have one heck of a sci-fi thriller to see.
If you watch this at about midnight in a dark, creepy house, I guarantee you that you will jump at least five times, and the other times you will say, "Oh (insert expletive here), look at all that blood!" This movie is definitely on my sci-fi favorites list.
