Review of Pitch Black (2000) by Rob C — 05 Mar 2010
Pitch Black is still one of the best films Vin Diesel ever acted in. This is the kind of element where he can show his full potential on. The Riddick character is one of the most ruthless, but methodical villian/hero I've seen to date; it's like he can foresee his rivals actions before they even happen.
Aside from Cole Hauser and Vin Diesel, the other actors put in some mediocre performances; it was weird seeing Keith David miscast in such a manner. The cinematography is handsome, brushed up when daylights turns to night; and when Riddick reveals his two-toned pupils to see in his normal vision.
His vision is a more intriguing view than on the Predator's mask. Pitch Black is your typical sci-fi thriller with the same story you've all seen before, but with a more polished aftermath.
