Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) by Matt M — 26 Oct 2013

Upon released, this film was hailed as something of a blackbuster masterpiece mostly due to the fact that it made pirates, then regarded as box office poison, trendy again. Inspired by a rollescoaster ride, the story of Jack Sparrow's struggles against his former crew, now undead, is quite and entertaining and exciting if a little overwhelming.

The make up and costume departments surely gave the film quite a distinctive and trend setting look. Johnny Depp delivers another iconic performance as another whacky character to add to his long repertoire.
