Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) by Jonathanc — 27 Sep 2011
A combination of new director Rob Marshall, lack lustred Penelope Cruz and some really strange pacing (whether its writers or editing), this movie lost what the previous movies had in abundance, heart, soul and wickedness.
The movie seemed "alcohol free", dont scare the little ones and tamed down too much for its own good. I think the reigns where brought right in on this one, and it shows. The jokes where off, clever lines missing and the dark, rum filled, dinginess was bought into the sunlight.
A little over cooked. unfortunately, I wont be holding my breath for another instalment. Perhaps this was one movie too far.
