Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) by Abel D — 23 Apr 2014
Leaner than the two past entries, the fourth 'Pirates' is still an enjoyable time, but now lacks Verbinski's distinct mania. The action set pieces are still large, but not as energetic or comical, and the plot, though leaner, feels more muddled than necessary.
However, its cast are still top notch, with tongues-firmly-in-cheeks, with Rush getting some of his funniest material in the series here, while McShane makes for a bombastic yet sinister Blackbeard.
