Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017) by Cora S — 28 Jun 2017
Critics be damned! Or, as Jack would say "who HURT you?". We all love pirates of the Caribbean, and we will continue to love it even if they make 50, they turn into utter crap, and the only recurring character left is cotton's parrot.
As long as Jack is still in it, of course. So what if Johnny Depp has got older- haven't we all- hasn't Jack? So what if there are a few continuity errors- no one can claim the original ones are plot hole free.
It is a great movie, with sparkling dialogue, hilarious scenes (robbing a bank?!) and some genuinly heart wrenching moments. It came as no surprise to me at all when the critics started hating on it from 5 minutes after it was first shown- if there's one thing they hate more than a popular film, it's the sequel of a popular film (let alone the 5th one!).
You could tell from the doom and gloom attitude they had before it came out that they'd already decided it would be terrible. But, guess what, the actual people seem to love it- 89%, 7/10 etc. So please don't let this website put you of- it really is most defiantly worth the watch (and the final scenes will have Will and Elizabeth fans gushing, and everyone else intrigued for days).
