The first Pirates film was a huge success, largely due to Johnny Depp's original performance as the drunk Captain Jack Sparrow. However the fourth installment, On Stranger Tides left fans wondering what had happened.
It was a half hearted after thought for the Pirates trilogy with Salazar's Revenge giving the Disney Trilogy the reboot that it needed. The writers have discovered the formula that works for Pirates of the Caribbean, bringing back much loved characters in the flesh and their personalities through their fictional offspring and love interest.
