Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017) by Christo A — 19 Sep 2017
Brilliant, as I expected. Action sequences were amazing, CGI was incredible and Johnny Depp was fabulous as always. The only critiques I have are that Javier Bardem wasn't as intimidating as he should've been, but considering Ian McShane's spectacular portrayal of the fearsome Blackbeard in the previous installment, it's no surprise that Bardem didn't measure up, cuz you can't beat Blackbeard.
And although Brenton Thwaites' (Henry Turner) acting was excellent, he caused a slight problem with the franchise' continuity. Though their ages are never mentioned, it is clearly visible that Orlando Bloom (40) and Keira Knightley (32) are far to young to have an adult son, as Keira is only 4 years older than Brenton Thwaites, who is 28 in real life, and Orlando is only 12 years older than him.
Even considering that Thwaites is 7 years older in real life than his character (who is 21), Keira Knightley would still be too young to be his mother.
