Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017) by Bfoore90 — 30 May 2017
So-so movie, it brings alot of good things to the table for the franchise and it does some bad to it at the same time. Starting off, Javier Bardem and Johnny Depp are the highlights of this movie. Whenever they're on screen, you know the movie is going to get better and it does get better.
I thought Brenton Thwaites was also a good casting as Will Turner's son even though his character is a bit forgettable (hence I can't remember his name). This movie is sloppy in terms of execution, pacing is all over the place, editing is also choppy and could have been done better.
I also found it sad that they took away Jack Sparrow's wit that made him such a great character in the first one and kinda turned him into a drunken buffoon, who while is still fun to watch on screen there just isn't this aura that he is always two steps ahead of you.
In the end, this movie is pretty up-and-down but its entertaining nonetheless and should please fans of the franchise.
