Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017) by Felipe C — 12 Nov 2017
It's nowhere near as good as the first couple films, but Dead Men Tell No Tales is surprisingly not bad. Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush are once again fantastic as Captains Jack Sparrow and Hector Barbossa respectively, and Javier Bardem is actually really good as Captain Salazar.
The film suffers from many of the same problems as films 3 and 4, but not nearly to the same extent. Some of the action is ridiculous, impossible, and frankly kinda stupid, but most of the action is thrilling and fun.
The return of the Black Pearl and many original cast members after their absence in On Stranger Tides is a breath of fresh air, and although the film isn't great, it's actually really good, and definitely better than the previous film.
