Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017) by Dan R — 13 Oct 2017
Very poor by comparison to the rest of the pirates of the caribbean movies.
It is annoying when things contradict the story or if they just do not make sense.
In dead men tell no tales it shows a young Jack receiving the compass from his dying captain during a battle with Salazar. In dead man's chest Tia Dalma makes reference to the compass she bartered to Jack, so that is a contradiction.
As for things not making sense:
Salazar says he named Jack, Jack Sparrow because he looked like a bird in the crowd nest. I wonder how Salazar knew his name was Jack, he must have known every captain and first mate in the many ships he was fighting. I also wonder how since he was killed and trapped in the devils triangle how the name Jack Sparrow leaked out, since he named him.
How did Jack giving away the compass allow them to escape the devils triangle and how would Salizar have known that.
I am sure there is more thaat doesn't make sense or may be contradicting, I just watched the movie 1 time, that is all that jumps out to me as I write this.
The movie was poorly written, the acting and effects were fine. I hope that the story line can rebound from this movie.
