Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017) by Tony J — 31 May 2017
Summary: This fifth entry in the franchise should have been the fourth.
Firstly because it would have held on to more momentum from the original trilogy, and secondly because the fourth was just SO bad. This entry does at least acknowledge the events of the previous outing, but only as needed to restore things to somewhat proper order. There's a better use of returning cast members, and some basic logic in terms of where the new characters are coming from. In the end, it sets up a possible sixth (and hopefully final) installment, which would require/allow Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley to return along with Johnny Depp. After that, I think we're done.
