Captain Sparrow is back and up to his old hijinks. A very strange bank robbery, an impromptu wedding, an origin? flashback, another beautiful young woman alone on a ship full of pirates and/or supernaturally cursed sailors who avoids being immediately assaulted...
Okay Okay, I know this whole series is nonsense, but it is fairly entertaining and forgettable nonsense. The production values and all the film-making magic of Disney is still there and intact, but there is definitely a little bite and a little charm missing. Some critics feel it's been missing since the first sequel but I think it's more likely that some of the mystery has faded and been replaced by expectations.
But these characters are who they are and that doesn't really hold up to dramatic scrutiny. This falls heavily into the bin of Eye Candy and not Brain Candy.
