Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017) by John K — 28 May 2017
Great visuals but this movie lacked on story. I feel like there are still so many unanswered questions from the Will Turner storyline from when we last saw him and his family in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World' End.
Without giving too much away, I feel like there was no explanation why the Devil's Triangle was cursed in the first place. Seemed like the writers on the film picked a piece of uncharted waters and said "Yep, that's cursed.
" No substance there. At least the curse in the first movie was explained. You would've thought Jack Sparrow would act more differently when he first meets Will Turner's son but almost treats him like any other pirate.
The story needed more for elaborating on the "Dead Men of the Devil's Triangle." Disappointed with this one. Gore Verbinski needs to come back to direct if there are any plans to make more Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
