Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017) by Jak-Luke S — 23 Jul 2017
The opening scene sums the film up, it looked cheap, acting was genuinely horrible and the edit was clunky and unfortunately that's the tone set throughout. It's action sequences are constantly touched upon with so much CGI it's horrible throughout the last act.
The pacing and story beats are also a little off as well, leading to a pace very confused. Performances are mixed, Depp is very charismatic and the highlight but his character is written like such an idiot it becomes more annoying than anything else.
The supporting cast is drab with only Rush actually showcasing some talent, with a cameo from Paul McCartney that was the equivalent of ass. Orlando Bloom was so bad it genuinely began to anger me.
