Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017) by Body 8 — 25 May 2017
While the lack of continuity from the first four sucks (i.e. the way Jack got his entire identity), the movie still stands strong. Jack seems a little more drunk this time around, which makes sense considering he's on his all time low.
Javier Bardem as ghost Salazar is a much more believable villain in the sense that we as an audience have a reason to see him as one (unlike Blackbeard, who was well cast but not well put into the story).
Brenton and Kaya have great chemistry on screen. Seeing the pearl, Will and Elizabeth and some familiar supporting faces from the original trilogy makes this one a ton better than the fourth instalment which, let's be honest, we all would like to forget.
For those that are still going out to see it and are familiar with the entire franchise, stick around for a post-credit scene that will blow you away and give you an outline of what is hopefully to come in part 6.
