Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017) by Mark K — 06 Jul 2017
Wonderful despite the critics. This film actually was at the same level as the first one. The fact that our beloved Jack did not have the grand entrance he always has had is not a bad thing. He did have quite a good entrance.
One fitting to him having fallen on hard times. Who honestly thought he was going to have a happily ever after? The best thing about this film is that we get some backstory on CAPTAIN Jack and see his nostalgia and desire to feel the way he did when he first became captain.
Despite his ever cheery and enigmatic front, he is quite basically human deep down inside. I will admit that the trident of Poseidon was a bit more DC comics than I would have liked and they could have made it fit in with the rest of the film a bit better; a bit less flashy and less like the Justice League is about to pop up out of nowhere.
All things considered, it is a wonderful and very entertaining film. I am glad I spent the money on watching it in the cinema and I will definitely purchase it in bluray when it is available.
