Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017) by Jy S — 27 Jun 2017
Espen Sandberg and Joachim Ronning tell a tale in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Is it a good one?
Sailing in at past the 2 hour mark, pirates drags along from scene to scene, with little in the way of excitement. Throwing in a bit of humor along the way, the plot details explain enough, but not doing much more than that.
The CG gets a pat on the back. The look of Captain Salazar and his crew deliver some fresh air in the existing pirate atmosphere. As usual,tThe costumes and setting are nicely selected and done.
Johnny Depp does what he does best; embraces his character with amusing body movements and expressions. Javier Bardem puts forth a solid villain, while Brenton Thwaites and Kaya Scodelario seemingly just get by with their characters.
Familiar faces populate Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, but the new faces aren't enough to blow this out of the water.
