Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007) by Ben T — 24 Jan 2015
After the massive let down that was Dead Mans Chest we got At Worlds End. The epic 'finale' to the series, that is so long it clocks in at almost 3 hours. Johnny Depp is good as usual but he does get very annoying and he's an asshole.
Will Turner is an asshole. Keira Knightley is an annoying tough girl. Barbossa is a really likeable asshole. Chow Yun Fat is a rapist asshole. Davy Jones is Becketts bitch and Bootstrap Bill is an asshole with a split personality.
If you can't tell I hate all the main characters except for Barbossa and Gibbs who were both funny. Talking of which for a film with such a dark tone there is way to much humour. Every character is either reduced to comic relief or a double crossing twat.
When I saw the film I was about 8 or 9, loving the first film and not enjoying the second film. I remember getting very excited to see it. As a young child this film disturbed me very much. This film is not for kids.
It starts with a little boy being hanged and gets worse from there. The three scenes that scared me a lot where the bit were the two attractive Chinese female twins are shot in the head in cold blood by Mercer.
The scene where Bootstrap Bill killed Norrington when he tried to save Elizabeth. But mostly the scene where Davy Jones has to get the key off Mercer so instead of stabbing or shooting him he forces his tentacles into his mouth, eyes and ears, all this is in a Disney film.
This film is also over long and boring with too many scenes of pirate politics. Overall don't watch this movie, it's dark, unfunny and boring. D+.
