When 'At World's End' was first released, it received a lot of criticsm. I think that this is unfair as I think it's really underrated. Most of the criticsm was about the confusing plot and running length which I understood but, after rewatching, I think it's a great follow-up to 'Dead Man's Chest'.

The running length is 2 hours and 49 minutes which means there's plenty of time for characters and the plot to develop. It's one of those films that does need your attention as the dialogue is important as characters reveal secrets about certain characters. Running length shouldn't really be a complaint as some of the best films are almost or over three hours long (this includes Titanic, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Avatar and Inception).

After rescuing Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) from Davy Jones' (Bill Nighy) Locker, the crew of the Black Pearl must attend a meeting that involves the nine Pirate Lords in order to come up with a plan to defeat both Davy Jones and the evil Lord Beckett (Tom Hollander). This leads to a thrilling battle between the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman.

Apart from Jack, my favourite character throughout the three films has been Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) who, in this film, finally achieves her dream of becoming a pirate. Most female characters in films are used as a love interest for the main character and are undeveloped, however, Elizabeth is more than that. She's brave and fierce and her monologue before the battle is powerful and motivating.
