Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007) by Brandon W — 15 Aug 2015
'Exposition' the movie. This film forgot what Pirates of the Caribbean was all about. Unlike the first film where they kept it simple and fun but yet you still felt the stakes of the action, this film is jam-packed with needlessly complicated subplots, double-crosses and character drama that doesn't pay off or doesn't even lift off the ground.
The end battle was really well done, except for one part where Barbossa marries Will and Elizabeth, but you don't feel the tension of the scene because the build up towards it lacked focus and any real emotion.
This film just tried to do way too much. They tried to tell Lord of the Rings or something super epic but it doesn't need to be. Pirates of the Caribbean should be Jack Sparrow and his crew trying to find some treasure.
Simple and fun. Definitely a disappointment to the series.
