Review of Pirates of Silicon Valley (1999) by Paul B — 07 Jul 2007
Everyone knows I love Apple. It's just a fact, and that's why I enjoyed this movie so much. It's not even a very well made film, I mean, it is a made for TV special. And personally I feel they don't have their facts right. For one thing that scene where Steve Jobs is talking about the new partnership with Microsoft and Bill Gates is on the big screen like some kind of god....yeah I guess that happened, but seriously it wasn't like that at all! They make it look like that's the day Apple died, when really what happened was Steve Jobs sold like 5% of non-voting shares to Microsoft so he could get a little cash to save his company. Well it worked. Look where Apple is today!
But the movie does provide a good history lesson about where Operating Systems came from, like the fact that Xerox invented the mouse, but to this day Apple still claims to have done it.
Even though the overall quality of the film sucks I still give it five stars because I want everyone to watch it!
