Sometimes it recaptures the schlocky fun of the 80s video nasties, other times it ventures more into Hostel territory. The script has a sense of humour, but with all the semi naked women being elaborately slaughtered, it does come across as very misogynist at times - even after it punishes all the misogynists in the film.
Entertaining, but I'll take Joe Dante's original any day.
