Review of Pinocchio's Revenge (1996) by Fauxsters: Fake Movie Posters — 27 Dec 2008
This is like one of those Lifetime "Thrillers" that tries really hard to be scary, but ultimately ends up as just another watered-down Horror wannabe. The whole time, I couldn't stop thinking about how much this Pinocchio looked like the Pinocchio voiced by Jonathan Taylor Thomas in that live-action movie.
.. that, and I kept hearing the Pinocchio from 'SHREK' screeching, "But I'm not a puppet... I'm a REAL boy!" So, the suspenseful efforts of this film were completely lost on me.
"Meh" dialogue, and average acting pull this film down. However, there are some pretty nifty setpieces (a very small few, but they're still mildly effective) and a very nice mind-bend of an ending that saves the film from total mediocrity.
It's an honorable effort, but that doesn't mean it's good.
