Review of Pinocchio (1940) by Avant G — 12 Jun 2012
Although Pinocchio has never been one of my favorite stories, this movie is pretty good. Once again, not one of my favorites, but the story is conducted on a lovely way. Jiminy Cricket is a great characther, he strives to give good advices to Pinocchio, but is also quite funny.
The story emphasizes the power of dreaming and presents parental love as unconditional. Also, the moral of the story is good for kids - you should not trust strangers, you should not lie because a lie conducts to another lie and you'll get caught, etc.
Furthermore, Pinocchio gets a second chance from everyone, despite what he did. And I guess that all of this conveys a feeling of safety to kids, which is something parents prefer not to assure to their children.
Parents (and society) expect you to do everything right from the begining, and that can be really stressing, the pressure to be perfect all along. So I guess this a story that all kids should watch, because, in the end, it is all about love.
