Review of Pinocchio (1940) by Alex B — 19 Nov 2010
If you get past the fact this thing A) doesn't make sense (if you were looking for your son, why would you go to sea and get swallowed by a whale?) and B) is scary as hell (kids go to an island and morph into donkeys; a man gets swallowed by a whale) it isn't all that bad.
In no way is it my favourite or in my opinion the best classic Disney movie ever but it is the personification (in my opinion) of Disney's vision, aesthetic and themes; it's even instilled in the music! I love Figaro! I want him! And it is funny.
But overall, it's average and personally I just don't like it.
