Review of Pinocchio (1940) by Megan N — 26 Dec 2010
I remembered seeing this movie when I was 4 or 5 years old and it's still one of Walt Disney's best animated films. I have now started to study the animation (with the help of a book called Walt Disney's 9 Old Men and the Art of Animation by John Canemaker that I got a year ago) and have now started to identify who animated who and looked carefully at their work, along with some animators that were mentors of the 9 and have enjoyed looking at it.
Bottom line, a great film with an amazing cast (watch the audio commentary if you have it on DVD to know who voiced who), music, animation and storytelling and will be always historical for the song that was the symbol of all things Disney (which is When You Wish Upon a Star).
A wonderful Walt Disney masterpiece!
