Review of Pinocchio (1940) by Marcus G — 03 Nov 2012
The second of Waltâ(TM)s classic features, this time boasting more plot and better characterisations than the itâ(TM)s predecessor, âSnow White And The Seven Dwarfsâ?. The visuals and storytelling are true to form and are well on the way to creating the Disney style which we all know and many love.
This is also a product of the time of which it was made, with a darker and more uncompromising tone than more modern animation, with consequences to actions, some of which remain unresolved, such as the â~donkeyâ(TM)s in the salt mineâ(TM) sequence. This coming of age tale is well handled with a strong message and sense of decency in the face immorality which is inherently timeless and a joy to watch 70 years on and beyond.
