Review of Pinocchio (1940) by John A — 26 Apr 2016
Nice on its own terms, though when compared with the original story, it suffers a bit as it becomes clear where the film missed some opportunities. In particular, a clearer portrayal of Pinocchio as a selfish kid, rather than as a misguided one, would help to make the final conversion more realistic and, well, necessary.
The film does have some nice moments though, with the silent cat and all his physical comedy being one of Disney's funniest creations.
