Review of Pinocchio (1940) by David S — 11 Oct 2010
Love it. Admire it. Adore it.
I think that Pinocchio is a real piece of gold in the constellation of Disney's classic animation.
I am 22 and I've recently watched Pinocchio again after a long break since my very childhood. This story, full of love, hope, kindness, bravery and dangerous trials can't leave anyone behind. In the new life given to Pinocchio by Walt Disney it's neither a plain educational story for inobedient children nor a simple fairytale. It is a quintessence of true feelings... Innocence of a child, father's infinite love. Jiminy's unspoiled wish to help Pinocchio find a right way in his life. All that is combined with some really philosophical moments, great graphic technique and detalization plus perfect voice casting and fantastic songs.
This masterpiece will always deeply touch the strings of my soul... And I will always give a tear on the scene where Pinocchio dives after Geppetto with no hesitation to save him...
It's a pity that no sequel exists. Anyway, this one is what I will remember forever. Thanks to everyone who took part in the creation of Disney's Pinocchio. It gives us the power to believe that our wishes come true. And it left a trace of some pure feeling of happiness in my heart...
