Review of Pinky (1949) by Ashley H — 28 Jul 2011
Pinky is a brilliant film. It is about a light skinned black woman who returns to her grandmother's house in the south after graduating from nursing school in the north. Jeanne Crain, Ethel Barrymore, and Ethel Waters give incredible performances.
The screenplay is well written and touching. Elia Kazan did a superb job directing this movie. I enjoyed this motion picture because of the drama and excellent characters. Pinky is a must see.
