Review of Pink Floyd: The Wall (1982) by Farrukh G — 28 Feb 2009
Bob Geldoff had been the lead singer of the Boomtown Rats, a band that came out of Britain's exploding Punk/New Wave scene in the late 1970s. He admits that he once shared Johnnie Rotten's feelings about Pink Floyd (Rotten purchased a Pink Floyd t-shirt and wrote "I HATE.
.." with a felt pen over Pink Floyd). Still, Geldoff took on the role of jaded rock-star Pink whose life unravels in a Los Angeles hotel room. The film is based on the album of the same name. If you attended high school between the fall of 1979 and summer of 1985, you probably have fond memories of the album.
Unless you were into punk/new wave music, in which case you may share Geldoff or Rotten's hostility.
