Review of Pink Floyd - Divided We Fall - The Wall: Live At Earl‘s Court (2012) by Frederick B — 12 Jan 2012
Great animation, great music...but the movie is too artsy fartsy for me. I thought I would enjoy this movie a little more than I do, but it's just ok. However, the Pink Floyd album that this film is based on is terrific! One of my favorite depressing albums ever.
If they spent less time trying to either a.) make an intelligent artsy-Kubrick type movie or b.) forgotten about the LSD association, maybe this would make more sense for the rest of us. I do like Bob Geldof in the main role--he has the look down pat and his actions speak the loudest.
.the part where he shaves off his eyebrows is pretty haunting. Overall, I think Floyd are great (especially the Syd Barrett years--partially what this movie was based upon,) but the film itself is kind of like watching something that's a step above Jean-Luc Godard.
..it's half pretentious, but the music and animation save it.
