Review of Pink Flamingos (1972) by Nathan N — 06 Sep 2008
Let's be honest. Pink Flamingos isn't the best John Waters movie, nor is it the best John Waters movie to star Divine. It made John Waters famous and has a cult following of it's own and was an historically important film.
that's the only reason it's favored over some of Waters' other films. It's still a damn funny movie though that can still shock the fuck out of most viewers some 30 years later and that's one hell of an achievement.
Obviously the movie has some pacing problems and the acting and production leave much to be desired, but if you judge the movie based on what it is and what its trying to do it's a quality film. worth watching if you've never seen it.
worth re-watching if you liked it the first time.
