Review of Pink (2016) by Ryan F — 19 Sep 2016
This movie was incredibly good. Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari & Andrea Tariang give amazingly strong performances as three professional girls living in New Delhi who are victims of a sexual assault by three men who feel entitled to take what they want from the women.
Minal (Taapsee Pannu ) smashes her attacker, Rajveer, who is the nephew of a powerful politician, in the face with a bottle. Rajveer and his friends then begin to stalk and attack the women and when the women try to press charges, Rajveer claims Minal was the attacker and tries to have her convicted of attempted murder.
Deepak Sehgall (played amazingly well by Amitabh Bachchan ) is a retired lawyer suffering from issues of his own, takes the case to help the women. The courtroom scenes are amazing especially when Deepak Sehgall forces the court to address the social issues and attitudes toward women in general, and the issues of misplaced male entitlement in the country.
This movie was amazing. Definitely one of the best I've seen this year.
