First word that came to mind prior to finishing the movie: dumb. Yes dumb, but in a good way. Pineapple Express shows how a dumb movie can succeed. The plot I don't want to describe because it's insanely stupid and somehow works about two pot smokers getting chased down by drug dealers. I couldn't believe how David Gordon Green and the cast made this work. What most have people said this could've been more over the top that it was. Seth Rogen, James Franco, and Danny McBridge were all pitch perfect. James Franco gives a surprisingly Oscar Worthy performance that I didn't see coming. Ok not Oscar, but he was so funny and comedically awesome as Saul. Seth Rogen happens to be always funny and kind of has the trend of playing the same guy. Danny McBridge brings his name to be finally known and shows his talents from Eastbound and Down. Another thing that was surprising was the action. Good old over the top action and somewhat realistic at the same time haha. The king of stoner comedies.
