Review of Pineapple Express (2008) by Jim A — 24 Jan 2014

I gotta admit, It's difficult to talk about this movie without comparing it to Superbad. After all, it's made the same people and features a lot of the same actors (with the exception of the dynamic trio of Hill, Cera & McLovin) However, I think I like the trio of Rogan, Franco & McBride better.

This movie also features actors who were not in Superbad like Gary Cole, Craig Robinson, Rosie Perez, and the rather under-developed Amber Heard. All of which provided excellent support. The plot in this movie is more complex than Superbad as these are not unpopular high school kids who just want to get laid, these guys mean well.

Rogan and Franco are on the run from drug dealers who are out to kill them. McBride is sort of the middle guy who ultimately joins the good team in the end. Also, in the end, we basically get a review of the movie from our 3 heroes who are just sitting down at a cafe talking about their exciting adventure.

I definitely recommend this film. It is an intense, violent, adventurous and hilarious bromance movie that does involve weed known as Pineapple Express.
