Review of Pina (2011) by Joshua H — 27 Jan 2012
Pina is more a showcase of the work of German choreographer Pina Bausch than a biography. In fact, since most people have never heard of Pina, that's the biggest problem with the movie. Even though members of her troupe give brief comments about working with her, there's no background information about Pina's life or how she started as a choreographer.
Director Wim Wenders makes excellent work of the 3D medium. Some of the dance sequences range from clever to WTF. Overall, this is a movie more for people in the know than the average movie goer.
