Review of Pin Cushion (2018) by Bkengland — 07 Aug 2020
What might be most difficult about watching this movie is that it's unrelenting. If there is even a single character who is able and willing to give either of the protagonists even the slightest break, especially when they are treated so abominably over and over, I haven't seen it yet.
So it is a bit like watching a running train wreck; horrible to take in, but you just can't look away. One telling moment is when one of the in-group girls says in confidence she'd be different if she didn't live her whole life in the same town.
Right. That seems to be the conundrum for all the characters. All stuck in the one town playing their roles in an unending loop with no other option. The worst prospect to consider is that this one town is really a stand-in for the whole world.
That said, I must protest: The world isn't 100% this bleak.
