Review of Pieces of April (2003) by Ida T — 13 Jan 2012
Patricia Clarkson and Oliver Platt are amazing. Of course. The surprising change in the Patricia's character is what turns the story around and gives it a genuine, dramatic weight just when you were about to tune out because of the predictable and clumsy pieces of plot being served up to that point.
And Katie Holmes, not an actress I'm inclined to be impressed by, really grows in her scenes with Patricia and has moments of authenticity and presence.
