Review of Pieces (1982) by Anna R — 30 Dec 2008
I realy don't know where to start. I don't want to say that it's entertainment value comes from being a purely bad film. I have seen far worse movies that aren't funny or diverting in the slightest.
This is entertaining because it is incredibly silly. There is an incredible level of camp here and none of it is inentional. I have seen very few performances in movies like these that I would call good but here they are terrible.
There is one victim that gives, without question, the worst and laziest performance I have ever seen from a screaming, seminude murder victim. And I have seen many. But the actors aren't in it alone.
As bad as these actors are, it is truley the script that drives this movie into the ground. The viewer learns: the wonders of mixing weed with water beds, how to yell "bastard" most effectivley, how to pacify your woman and much more.
All of this adds up to a good time, if not a memorable one. This was a fun movie right up untill the end but the final few seconds will stay with me forever. It is one of the most face-meltingly absurd, useless and out of nowhere twists that one could hope for.
I'm pretty sure my face came off just after the movie ended. I still have trouble believing that I have seen what I guess I just saw.
