Review of Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975) by Nathan W — 13 May 2005
A very atmospheric and moody mystery. One of Weir's most aloof movies, it has a cold edginess that isn't very appealing, and it prevented me from getting deeply involved in the movie. Fine cast, no one is a stand out though.
It has some fine cinematography and the period detail is admirable. It is hardly an exciting movie and tends to be very slow moving.
