What starts of looking like a conventional period drama ends up being quite wierd without really seeming so. Though never explicitly stated the film explores psychological conflict between the native Dreamtime world of Aboriginal culture and the foreign imported European culture encroaching upon the natural order.
The lack of resolution makes the story all the more powerful....
