Review of Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975) by Lucas S — 24 Jul 2010
What Happened? Where is Miranda, The Botticelli angel, and her friends? What exactly is the Picnic at Hanging Rock?
All unsolved questions, but the most important one is never mentioned: Do we really need to solve this mystery?
It's impressive how most of the best movies ever made have a very simple premisse, we don't need huge and complex plots, the quality of the story lies on the way it's told, and what a way!!!
Weir's direction, using cinematography and music to create an oniric atmosphere, drowing the viewer into it's own world, we become character's waiting for answers. Yes, we don't get solutions, but does everything in life has a solution?
Sometimes surrealistic but, whole acessible, aparently simplistic but incredibly deep. Picnic At Hanging Rock will be in your head for a long time, an unforgetable experience.
Final Rating: 9.9.
