Review of Picnic (1955) by Abigail G — 28 Apr 2007
An overall passionate performance by William Holden and a stunning Kim Novak. Their feelings for each other are told by deep, sincere and romantic longing looks into each other's eyes. The cinematography by James Wong Howe A.
S.C. was beautifully done, as seen during the picnic scenes and with a breathtaking sunset. My favorite scene is when Holden and Novak dance by the water and some colored lanterns. This is where Howe's cinematography really gets to shine in that scene with the way he lit their faces including the colors of the lanterns.
