Review of Pi (1998) by Carlton H — 26 Feb 2010
Aronofsky's first movie mixing the stock market, the kabbalah, and a crazy genius. The mixing of dream like imagery (ants in computers??), frenetic sequences, and bold shapes of scenery and people are put together with heart by Aronofsky in striking black and white.
Many people seem to know Requiem For A Dream and The Wrestle really well, and while both of them are great films, I still think Pi is a classic thriller and pretty great for a first time filmaker.
