Review of Pi (1998) by Charles P — 07 Jan 2013
Pi is my favorite Aronofsky and is the nightmare of panic induced fears and numbers. This has been compared to Eraserhead and that comparison isn't far off. A brilliant math mind is trying to scam the Stock MArket while being hounded by Hasidics who want him to break a religious code.
A lot of the techniques used in Requiem are in here and I think it is more effectively displayed here, while Requiem For a Dream has merits of its own. The Clint Mansell score and the soundtrack is awesome.
