Review of Pi (1998) by Justin R — 25 May 2013
It all plays out like a bad dream. Which is the point..i think. Darren Aronofsky successfully writes and directs this weird psychological thriller. The direction is perfect and plays well with the script.
The movie follows Max Cohen, an immensely smart mathematician who believes that all of nature is numbers and such. His paranoia becomes greater as the film goes on and is well shown through good editing and a good soundtrack.
You almost feel the anxiety that Max is feeling. The high contrast black and white also works well with adding that insane feeling and showing Max's perception of things.
