Review of Phone Booth (2003) by Alex S — 13 Aug 2011
As surprising as it may seen, Phone Booth is a great film. It is a gripping thriller with phenomenal performances throughout, bolstering it up to something I never expected possible given the premise. Farrell once again showcases his undeniable acting talent in a stand-out performance that truly drives the film. And to be honest, I'm a tad annoyed by the fact that it really received minimal critical acclaim. If this kind of solo performance isn't enough to earn even an Oscar nomination, then I don't want to know what is. ANYWAY, this is definitely one of Schumaker's best films in my own opinion. I wish it would have gotten more recognition, but what are you gonna do? Either way, I would definitely recommend this for Farrell's performance as well as Sutherland's epic voice-over and brief appearance. The cast really drew this film down a good path, and if not for them it probably would have been terribly mediocre. Luckily for us, it was awesome.
